Letting God
I'm tired of everything that ties me to this world. I want to be free of the holds homework, college, and my future career have on me. I want to be rid of the stresses of these little things that steal my silent time with Jesus...but I can't. To let go of these things, to be rid of these things, would mean throwing away my mission field. To trash these worldly duties is to reject the purpose God has for my life.
I was thinking about my near future and distant future today, so I went outside to get fresh air. I needed air. I needed wind. I needed sun. I needed the Son. As I was walking back into the house, I looked in front of me and the sun was in the perfect position in the sky to blind me. When I looked into the sun, I could not see anything else in front of me. I saw the sun, and I saw the place my feet stood. Following God and pursuing his will is much like looking into the ultimate source of light. When we focus on the Father and his plan for our lives, we can't see what is awaiting us. When we spend our time serving God and working in his kingdom, we see where we are with him spiritually, but we don't know what is in our future. And that's okay.
Trusting God is one of the hardest things for me, and I hate admitting that because it shouldn't be. God has done so much for his people and that's an understatement. God rescues his people, and he sees everything before it happens. God knows, and we aren't supposed to. It's as simple as that, but we humans like to make it hard and complicate everything. I will never understand why humans find it so hard to trust every part of their lives to the One who gave it to them. I have no answers, just observations.
Trusting God is more than believing he is good in the times when life goes smoothly. Trusting God is believing he is good when times are rough and rocky and confusing. Because he is. God gives us good and bad because he wants us to be our best. Tribulations are growing experiences and until we start to look at them as such, life will be very drear.
I think, after much thinking, that we should find comfort in the fact that God controls the many aspects of our lives. We are human, and we have innumerable flaws. Can you imagine your life working out the way you wanted to all the time. Who would you be? How would your spiritual walk with the Savior and Father look? Where would you be? What we think is best for ourselves isn't so. And what we want is not what we need.
God is truly a provider. He provides a future and a hope through Jesus Christ. He provides a heavenly home to those who obey his word, obey the gospel, and pursue him. He provides when we supply the heart. It is a give and take. We can't sit back and watch God do his job while we shirk our duties. Because trusting God isn't just a hope for a better future, but a hope for an influential service in the present.
I know trusting God is different for all, but when we can let go of everything we want to happen or everything wrong we fear might happen, beauty will blossom. Trust is found when we have a hope in Jesus.
Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV
"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."
Psalm 37:5 KJV
"Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass."
Psalm 13:5 KJV
"But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation."
Psalm 56:3-4 KJV
"What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me."
When everything seems to be falling apart or you begin to lose control, take a breath. When you realize nothing is a guarantee, give God the control.

This song has played in my mind and been placed in my heart for months, and I hope you find the beauty in it as well.
